My friend Sara from the blog Made by Sara just had her fourth baby, yes number 4!!! WOW! How brave is she and her husband?! heheh Amazing!
Well, Victoria had the lovely idea of throwing Sara a virtual baby shower and so we did! But it was two days ago… (insert an I’m embarrassed emoji here) Yep life has been a bit hectic around here and even though we’ve been planing this for months the procrastinator in me only finished today… sigh But I didn’t want to pass the opportunity to welcome Sara’s baby so here we are!
I’ve sewn a little something for this super cute adorable baby boy, and I’m really hoping that Sara likes it. Baby hats are one of my favorite baby things, they just look so cute in them… ❤ And the best is that we can make tons to coordinate with every outfit. heheh If only I knew how to sew knits when I had my girls… They better give me grandchildren those girls, so I can make a million of these! hehehe
The pattern is this free one from Coral and Co (here), which I used for the first time and think worked perfect. I don’t have a newborn but I couldn’t wait to see it modeled so I used the next best thing which is a Nenuco doll ehehehe. If the doll looks cute imagine a real baby, right?! 😉
The striped jersey was bought at a local shop here in Portugal (Bolo de Pano) and its super soft; and the other two are from NOSH which you already know are one of my favorite sources for knits.
Sara I wish your baby many many blessings! ❤ Big Congratulations to your beautiful family! Can’t wait to see all the pretty things you’ll sew for that little guy! ❤
I’m sure you probably did it already but in case you didn’t check out the amazing gifts my friends made to welcome Sara’s new baby.

My dear, sweet friend Laura just welcomed an adorable baby girl to her beautiful family and I couldn’t be happier for them. Today, me an few of her other sewing blogger friends are throwing her a virtual baby shower to let her know how much we’re happy for her and her baby.
I’ve decided to make a baby set (pants and top) in a lovely double knit I had on my stash. I bought it some time ago at Miss Matatabi and the quality is amazing, its super super soft, just perfect for baby skin.
For the top I used a free jumpsuit pattern from Kind Magazine; I had already tried it before here, and I think its a pretty cool pattern. (Size 68cm/3-6 months) I just cropped it at the waistline and added seam allowance to make it a top instead of the jumpsuit.
For the pants I used Brindille & Twig’s Pocket puff pants pattern. It was the first time I used their patterns and I can say I’m pretty happy with it. The instructions are clear and it came together nicely. The only thing that doesn’t fit my preferences is the page assembly method, but still works and gets the job done so it’s not a big deal. This is size 68cm/3-6 months, and I think they look pretty cute. hehehe 😉
I’m dead curious to see how they fit so I’ll probably make some for Francisca soon, and maybe for Madalena since she still fits the last size available (goes from preemie to 6T).
This knit is a bit thick, so I wasn’t able to topstitch the seam between bottom part and top part of the pants as recommended in the pattern; I had to press and topstitch towards the top instead of bottom to avoid extra bulkiness. I still think it works but I’m really hopping that Laura doesn’t mind my not so perfect sewing. heheh You know sewing for another sewer can be extra stressful because they can tell all the little mistakes. 😉
Sweet Laura I really hope you like this little gift. But most of all I wish a truly happy and fulfilled life for your beautiful baby girl. Many congratulations my dear!!! LOTS of love for you and your lovely family, I really really hope we can meet in person soon! ❤ ❤ ❤
Don’t forget to check all the other cool bloggers and their gifts, I’m super curious to see what they’ve made. 😉
Thanks a million Annika and Maartje for organizing this cool surprise!
Today I’m sharing a special project that hopefully will make my dear friend Patricia really happy!!
Patricia blogs at Pequeno Mundo a Três and I tell you that pretty soon she’ll have to rethink her blog tittle because she’s presenting this world with another beautiful child.
So to let her know we love her lots, our group of friends decided to throw her a virtual baby shower.
I opted to make a romper, pants (these were supposed to be footed but you know me – something had to go wrong obviously bahaha) and a small decorative pillow.
I used jersey from a local fabric shop (not the shop this time haha) in two shades of blue and a lovely floral, they are really soft and wonderful to work with.
For the romper I used this pattern, which is really cool and I’ll probably use it to make some rompers for Francisca too.
For the supposed footed baby pants I used Sew Much Ado’s free pattern which is great too. It’s pretty obvious that mine ended up not being footed…
Note to Self: not following pattern directions the first time you’re making something may not be a good idea!!
Good thing they’re still cute hahah. 😉 let’s hope Patricia shares my opinion. 🙂
And finally the rabbit softie/pillow. I made it using the template I created for my latest Sewing Rabbit post, just scaled down. It was my
first second (bahhaha) go at stuffed things; let me tell you friends I have lots to learn!!
I really hope Patricia likes this little gift set, because I’m pretty sure she’s going to Love all the other amazing things my dear friends made. Be sure to check them out following the links below.
